Marie Kølbæk Iversen (Denmark) lives and works in Copenhagen. She received her MFA from the Media Art Department and the Department of Time-based Media under the supervision of prof. Ann Lislegaard and prof. Gerard Byrne, respectively, at Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2008, and is the co-founder and editor of contemporary art journal Internationalistisk Ideale.
Marie Kølbæk Iversen creates installations, which use closed circuit video technology and feedback to explore ideas of perception and representation. By foregrounding the technical process and the immediacy of the feedback loop, her work challenges the conception of representational technologies by scrutinising and reducing them down to their material properties. Recent exhibitions include Fokus at Nikolaj Kunsthal, Copenhagen (2011); Lunds konsthall presentation at Lunds konsthall, Lund (2010-2011); Anonymous Materials at Binz39, Zürich (2010), The Dy(e)ing Light or the Case of a Sleeping Beauty at Four Boxes Gallery, Krabbesholm (2010); Nat is Night Personified at WAS, Copenhagen (2010), and Ce n'est pas une image juste, c'est juste une image at IMO, Copenhagen (2010).
Marie Kølbæk Iversen was a resident artist at Gasworks, London, in 2009, and at the Danish Art Workshops in 2011, and will be participating in the Enter triennial at Kunsthallen Brandts this coming fall.
She is represented by IMO projects.
