Musical Material #6
Beatriz Ferreyra & Lori Napeleon
Zondag / Sunday 8 April 13:00 - 15:00 H
Gratis toegang / Entrance: free
Free double bill in Korzo Club as part of the Rewire 2018 discourse programme.
Two artist talks with Argentinian composer Beatriz Ferreyra and the New York-based DJ, producer and electronic artist Antenes.
Beatriz Ferreyra is an original pioneer of musique concrète and an influential member of the Groupe de Recherches Musicales (GRM) in Paris, she has stood at the vanguard of electroacoustic experimentation since the 1960s. In her own work, she explores an intuitive method of free electroacoustic composition that embraces a range of tape cutting techniques as well as acoustic instrumentation and electronic technologies. In this conversation, we retrace her career, experiences and musical practice.
After a short break we present an artist talk by New York-based DJ, producer and electronic artist Antenes. Ahead of the premiere, Antenes will discuss 'Telegraph Music', a unique live performance that explores the intertwined histories of electronic music and telecommunications. Commissioned by Rewire, Comm Museum and The Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision’s RE:VIVE initiative, the performance elevates a one-of-a-kind repurposed switchboard modular setup by introducing a modified telegraph key system.
Musical Material is a series of meetings on Sunday afternoons, during which specialists in the fields of music, art and/or reflection, test and discuss the details of their profession. During which the borders of traditional disciplines are insignificant and expertise will be interchanged. Musical Material is a collaboration between Rewire and West.
