Feedback #6 touches down with a full exhibition, performance and colloquium series at the legendary Fonderie Darling in Montreal. Marshall McLuhan was an important cultural reference during the rise of Canada on the international scene in the 1960s. With an irreverent yet critical openness to the present, McLuhan was able to meet his age head on and reflected it to an unprepared audience, stirring up controversy where-ever he appeared. Though his statements appear to us as visionary today, he insisted he did not prophesy, but merely observed, expressing himself through 'probes', testing his audience for their responsivities like social media adjusts your feed. Feedback #6 responds with a selection of works by contemporary artists who work through the notion of cybernetic feedback, which is still the basis for all automated functionality we have come to rely on. Feedback #7 will also test new concepts of public engagement for the post-covid-19 age, with a responsive, generative and information networked counterpart, which performs and opens out the concepts exposed in the space.
